“The Stampede” painting is considered one of the great paintings of American art. It also, along with it’s sister painting “The Range Burial” gave birth to Harry Jackson’s sculptures. To study the composition problems presented by the size of these 10 x 21 foot paintings Harry Jackson created sculptural models. He spent more an more time on the models and finally cast several. When the sculpture models began selling out at his gallery shows he knew this was his future.
This 1970’s vintage poster is a beautiful reproduction, capturing the detail and action of the original painting – although it is much smaller. The white border has yellowing due to age, however the color image remains as it was hot off the press.
